Sycamore's look to have a bright future

By: Raven Manning

The Men’s Sycamore Baseball Team had a bit of a struggling season with an overall record of 21-18 even after their win to the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Cougars Tuesday afternoon. The team has shown a relentless effort all season, and swept the Cougars (3-0) with their home field advantage. After their devastating loss to Creighton, the future of the team is in the hands of the Missouri Valley Conference, where the Sycamores will play the Missouri State Bears this weekend. The pitchers took the game, and finished it off in the ninth with a strike-out from Hochstedler. With seniors such as pitcher Blake Drake graduating, the rest of the team has a chance to grow considering that the majority are freshmen and sophomores. The Sycamore’s have the potential to be great and have shown that throughout this season. They will definitely present a threat within forthcoming years. With 2012 recruits such as Kyle West, Casey McCurdy, and Dakota Bacus, Heller will definitely have a force to be reckoned with.
